By Sunny A. Ijomah

The Commander, Akpo Vigilance Group, Mr. Peter Ezeonu has commended the Anambra State Security initiative, describing it the best in the country.

He made the commendation, while interacting with our correspondent at Akpo Junction.

The Commander said: “Governor Willie Obiano’s security initiative is second to none among the committee of States in Nigeria.

“As a Vigilante Commander for years in Akpo Community, I can assure you that Obiano’s security initiative has made security to work easy for us.

“The situation speaks for itself. Anambra State is currently the safest State in the country.

“The impressive security situation of Anambra State has helped to beef up the Aku Luo Uno mantra of Governor Obiano.

“But for this Coronavirus pandemic that is rearing its ugly head again, many affluent Ndi Anambra could have been at home in the state to see things themselves.

“Notwithstanding, the light is shining, eyes are seeing it.

“We are in total control of the security situation in Akpo. Vendors of prohibited drugs such as cannabis sativa and their users are our targets now.

“It is a battle indeed. We are winning. Hotels, beer parlours and other entertainment businesses are able to operate until 12 midnight.

“This is because we have no security threats at all. The Akpo security hotlines are placed at strategic points for people to call in case of emergencies,” Mr. Ezeonu stated.

He also commended Akpo Development Association (ADA) President-General, Nze Henry C. Dim, for his support to the vigilance group. He described the support as superlative.

Commander Ezeonu poured encomiums on Igwe Jonathan Okpalaezecha (Nnamoshimiri 11 of Akpo) for doing all to ensure adequate security in the town.

The Commander described the vigilance group’s relationship with Community Policing initiative in conjunction with the Nigerian Police Force as cordial.

“We are working together with a common goal of ensuring security. We will not relent within the Yuletide season and beyond,” Mr. Ezeonu said.
