Digital Transformation: Ag VC Takes Unizik to Next Level

By Michael Nnebife

The students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, have begun to take exams right from the comfort of their rooms.

The Acting Vice-chancellor of the University, Prof Joseph Ikechebelu, disclosed this during the 6th Annual Public Lecture of the Board of Fellows of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, held recently, at ASUU Secretariat, in the University.

Recall that Prof Ikechebelu took the mantle of leadership of the University from Prof Charles Esimone, on 4th June 2024, in an acting capacity.

While presenting his goodwill message to the members of the Board, Ikechebelu said, ‘I assumed this office with a short-term vision which I will work assiduously to achieve within my tenancy in the position.

‘The vision is to beautify UNIZIK, light-up UNIZIK, ensure, safe and secure UNIZIK, and digitalize our operations at Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

‘To achieve these, we have a major concept whose aim is to have at the end of the day, happy productive staff, and happy progressive students.

‘I want to assure you that Staff of Nnamdi Azikiwe University are happy and they are more and more productive since the inception of this young administration. Our students are also happy and progressive. Let me give you one of the key points the students are happy with.

‘It has been a long time they saw their results on their phones, but today, right in the comfort of their rooms, the students would take exams, and the results would appear on the students’ digital platform;  they don’t need to chase lecturers around.

‘That is the development at Nnamdi Azikiwe University now, and we are consolidating on that,’ Prof Ikechebelu said.
