The Global Anglican Communion has decided to relocate it’s headquarters to Abuja, Nigeria in an unanimous decision.
This is coming a the Labour Party (LP) senatorial candidate for Anambra Central Senatorial District, Ven. Tochukwu Sagacious Ikezue congratulated the Primate of All Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Rev’d Dr Henry Ndukuba, and the Church of Nigeria, over the decision of the Global Anglican Communion to relocate its headquarters to Abuja.
Ikezue described the development as a “historic and uncommon feat”, saying it represented a great honour not only to Nigeria and the Church of Nigeria but also to the Body of Christ in Africa and across the world.
Speaking to journalists in Awka, he congratulated Ndukuba and the Nigerian Anglican Church, emphasizing that the decision by the Global Anglican Council was a divine endorsement of Nigeria’s spiritual strength, the faithfulness of Nigerian Anglican Church members and the courageous leadership of the Primate and the Church of Nigeria.
He particularly commended the Chairman of the Global Anglican Council, Most Rev’d Dr Laurent Mbanda, and members of the council for considering Abuja as the new headquarters of the Communion.
According to Ikezue, Mbanda’s statement that “it is fitting that the city where this new chapter was so clearly articulated should also become a physical home from which we serve Global Anglican Church members throughout the world,” underscored the significance of the decision.
Ikezue described the choice of Abuja as “prophetic”, stressing that the development would bring greater responsibility to the Church in Nigeria.
He urged Nigerian Anglican Church members to respond to the new responsibility with greater commitment to holiness, unity, mission and service to humanity.
The LP candidate also expressed optimism that the new headquarters would become a centre for prayer, reconciliation and the spread of the Gospel across the globe.
He prayed that God would continue to use Ndukuba, the Archbishops, Bishops, clergy and lay faithful of the Anglican Communion in Nigeria to serve as a light to the nations.
Ikezue further congratulated the Primate, recalling his message that the faithful would witness “the Reign of God”, and declared that the latest development was a tangible manifestation of the great things God was doing.
