Loyalists of former Anambra State Governor and former Presidential Candidate of Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, led by a former Commissioner for Information in Anambra State under Obi, Chief Joe-Martins Uzodike, have expressed optimism in the ability of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, to oust incumbent Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, from office.
Speaking during the visit of a delegation led by the YPP Deputy Governorship Candidate, Prince Uzu Okagbue, to Awka Etiti, Idemili South LGA of Anambra State, Uzodike, who was joined by some other appointees of Obi, described the joint ticket of Sir Paul Chukwuma, Governorship Candidate; and Okagbue, his running mate, as a formidable team capable of dislodging Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, from office come the November 8 Guber Poll.
The Obi loyalists comprising former Commissioners and Special Advisers to Obi during his 8 years as Anambra State Governor, hailed the YPP Candidate and Deputy, describing them as quality and capable hands to change the face of Anambra.
Uzodike, while addressing the YPP team, described them as a solid Team that would set Anambra on the right trajectory, adding that it would be a political risk for anyone to look down at them.
The visit by the YPP delegation was part of intensive grassroots campaign by the party and engagement with several segments of Anambra society across party lines.
Obi’s Administration Team Members who were at the meeting included, former Commissioner for Information, Chief Joe-Martins Uzodike; Chief of Staff and two-term Commissioner, Prof. Mrs Chinyere Okunna; Commissioner for Works, Architect Callistus Ilozumba; Commissioner for Lands, Barr Okoli-Akirika; and Commissioner for Women’s Affairs, Dr. Ego Uzoezie, among others.
Uzu Okagbue had during the meeting acknowledged the relevance of the group, saying they contributed to the success of their leader, Obi.
He charged the former members of the Anambra State Executive Council to actively join in rewriting the leadership trajectory in Anambra State while they still could.
The YPP Team also met with a community leader in Ihiala LGA, Nze Chimezie Ikebuaso, who pledged to fully work for the party’s victory in Ihiala LGA.
