Youths Earnestly Seek Soludo (YESS) group led by a former student leader, Comrade Nelson Omenugha, has taken the message of the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, to Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The group, during the awareness outing, visited some notable monarchs in the council area, including the traditional ruler of Agulu who doubles as the Chairman of Anaocha Traditional Rulers Council, HRH Igwe Innocent Obodoakor, and his Akwaeze counterpart, HRH Igwe Eze Nnebo (Ezeudo).
Addressing the group in his palace, Igwe Obodoakor called on Ndi Anambra to lift APGA to greater heights, noting that the party was founded by Ndi Igbo, therefore, should be protected and sustained.
He decried lack of youth involvement, especially in the area of casting of votes during electionS. According to him, youths’ inability to participate in the electoral process had done the Nation more harm than good and called for immediate change of attitude.
‘Not coming out on election day to exercise their franchise is posing a very big problem and danger to our existence as a people. What they do is to leave the casting of votes to the aged women.
‘Youths are more in number. They should make their number count. The youths should take it upon themselves to make sure they cast their votes come 2021 gubernatorial election,’ Igwe Obodoakor appealed.
He said the issue of zoning had been settled a long time ago, describing Prof Soludo as an economic expert, as well as an experienced national and international figure. He promised to present the group’s request to his colleagues in Anaocha L.G.A. also at the State level.
Receiving the group, HRH Igwe Eze Nnebo, thanked the group for the initiative and described Soludo as an outstanding personality and his personal friend, assuring them that he would discuss the group’s visit and intentions with other traditional rulers, both in Anaocha L.G.A. and at state Level.
Contributing the palace Secretary, Ichie Nwatabo, advised Ndi Anambra to uphold APGA as their party, just like how Lagosians took APC as the party for Yorubas.
The group thanked Governor Willie Obiano for giving the youths opportunity to contribute their quota towards the development of Anambra State
Town, LGA, Zonal Coordinators of YESS, Anambra State Exco from the State Level, among others attended the visit.
