A four man supervision team from the World Bank and Federal Project Support Unit (WB/FPSU) on a two-day working visit to Anambra State has visited projects being funded by the Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency (ANCSDA) in parts of the state.
The team, in company of the management and staff of the agency, inspected some completed and ongoing community and group development projects in Anambra East and Awka North Council Areas.
Among the projects inspected were the Enugwu Aguleri Civic Centre, in Anambra East Local Government Area constructed under the Community and Social Development Project-Additional Financing (CSDP-AF) at the tune of over N6 million, a Corper’s Lodge at Urum Community Secondary School, Urum in Awka North Council area at about N4 million.
The leader of the team, Professor Foluso Okunmadewa described the visit as an exciting moment for them, the beneficiaries and the ANCSDA, noting that the project is going well in Anambra state despite its late commencement.
The team leader futher said that Anambra state was experiencing a revolution in terms of community driven projects,and encouraged benefiting communities to continue to take advantage of the initiative to address their infrastructure challenges. Prof. Okunmadewa announced that any community that delivers on its first round of approved projects is automatically entitled to another round of projects as there is enough resources with the agency to fund them.
The ANCSDA General Manager, Mr. Chudi Mojekwu described the visit as a useful exercise saying that it will help the agency to be more successful in the accelerated implementation of the project in the state. Mr Mojekwu who noted the comments of the WB/FPSU Supervision team, also use the opportunity to thank the State Governor, HE Chief Willie Maduaburochukwu Obiano for ensuring that CSDP-AF became effective in Anambra State to the overall benefit of Anambranians particularly the poor and the vulnerable.
The chairman of Enugwu Aguleri Community Project Management Committee (CPMC), Chief Obiora Nnatuanya and his counterpart from Urum, Mr. Emmanuel Okafor, thanked the World Bank and ANCSDA for coming to their aid, promising to maintain and sustain the projects in their various communities.
The WB/FPSU Supervision team has since moved to another state to continue their supervision mission.
