The Commissioner for Works Mr Marcel Ifejiofor, has inaugurated a renovated office block for the ministry.
Performing the ceremony at the ministry’s premises in Awka, Mr Ifejiofor urged staff members to be efficient in the discharge of their duties.
According to the Commissioner, on assumption of office, he discovered that some of the engineers in the ministry did not have office accommodation.
He then directed the Permanent Secretary, Mr Emeka Ohuoha, to proffer a solution and the result led to conceiving a renovation plan.
He expressed gratitude to the PS, Directors and contractors, who contributed towards making the renovation possible.
While speaking, Mr Ohuoha, the PS, said that the renovated office block would accommodate no fewer than 23 engineering staff members who were once clustered in a hall, thereby solving the social distancing problem as required by NCDC and WHO protocols for the prevention of COVID-19.
Mr Ohuoha thanked the Commissioner for his support in ensuring that the renovation was completed, saying it was a confirmation of his commitment towards ensuring quality service delivery.
The PS also commended the staff members for their patience, urging them to remain resolute in the discharge of their duties.
A staff member of the ministry, Mrs Nkiruka Okeke, thanked the management for the new office block, saying that the accommodation would motivate workers to continue to put in their best in enhancing good service delivery.
