Leading Guber Aspirant for this year’s Governorship Election in Anambra State on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has expressed appreciation to a powerful support group in the party, Ikemba Front, for throwing their weight behind him. Chukwuma, who stated this, Saturday, in his country home in Umueri at a rally, said he was now sure of winning both the APC primary and main elections with Ikemba Front as his backbone.
Ikemba Front is a political pressure group which backed the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah. Following the late Senator’s death, who was also an aspirant, the group decided to back Chukwuma.
At the well attended rally which had the 21 local government coordinators of Ikemba Front, as well the state executive of APC, Chukwuma described Ikemba Front as a group courted by everybody and said their endorsement of his aspiration was not taken for granted.
Recalling his previous encounters with the group when they were rooting for the late Ifeanyi Ubah, he said he had always recognized and appreciated their clout and expressed happiness that they chose him above other aspirants after the demise of their leader.
“I won’t take your support for granted. You’re a formidable group courted by other aspirants and by endorsing me I can confidently say I’ll win both the primary and main elections,” Chukwuma gushed.
He recalled that it had been a year and a month since he began the journey with the late Ubah and during then he had known it was either going to be him or Ubah
Chukwuma however regretted the way things went, leading to Ubah’s demise.
He welcomed the 21 LG coordinators of Ikemba Front and the leadership of the state APC and charged them to remain steadfast in their support for him in his march to the government house to restore the dignity and fortunes of Anambra State.
The Guber hopeful described APC as a big platform which had many groups working for it, chief of which was Ikemba Front. He expressed gratitude that they chose him above all others.
Noting what he described as the terrible situation in the state, Chukwuma extended his hand of fellowship to everyone in order to take over Government.
He regretted that the Dubai-Taiwan promise of the incumbent had not been met and enjoined all to join him in flushing out the incumbent governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo.
Later, Dr Chinedu Okoye, leader of Ikemba Front, told Journalists that they decided to work with Chukwuma because they saw him as having same qualities with their late leader, Ubah, after assessing all other aspirants.
