The House of Assembly Candidate of the Liberation Movement for Awka South 2, and a former councilor that represented Nibo Ward 3, Hon Okeke Emenike Emmanuel, popularly known as Okunwa, has disclosed that he left the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, for Liberation Movement because of the massive corruption in APGA.

Speaking to Fides in his office in Awka last Wednesday, Okunwa accused the present leadership of APGA of corruption, which, he said, had eroded the initial ideologies of the founding fathers, noting that eighty percent of the leaders were fraudulent.

Disgusted with what he saw in APGA, Okunwa said, he had no option than to team up with Liberation Movement headed by Mr Kriz David, a party, he said, which believed in equity and prosperity.

‘From our manifesto, our party will offer smart government which is the preferred future for Nigeria and Obizi people made up of Nibo, Nise, Amawbia, Umunachi, Mbaukwu, Isiagu and Ezinato communities,’ he said.

Okunwa regretted that the current member representing them had not done much for the constituency, despite occupying a sensitive position in the House. He gave the bad roads leading to the legislator’s house as proof of his failure to utilize his position in the House to the advantage of his people.

Okunwa is however promising his people that he had all it took to represent them well and set them on the pathway to ”legal prosperity”.

He said that top on his priority would be youth talent management, noting that as councilor, he had achieved much for his people. He gave some of those achievements as the reactivation of Eke Nibo borehole project; holding of first Awka South entrepreneurship for unemployed which had over 200 youths from all the wards; sponsoring of individual projects like poultry; enrollment of youths for NDE programme; funding for fashion development training for the youths; short listing of ten persons for ADP’s loan facility; scholarship for 25 people for computer training, among other interventions.

Okunwa also recalled his other interventions in health, revenue generation for his local government and discovery of N25m siphoned by top officers of the Awka South LGA.

Okunwa expressed his determination to shape the Obizi people’s dream by placing them on the pathway to prosperity through youth talent management and investment in agriculture.

This is even as he pledged to revive the third tier of government to become active and independent, as well as to enthrone transparency and accountability in government work.
