…Confirms killing of 3 Gunmen behind Uga Attack

While the rest of the citizenry were celebrating the Christmas, men of the Anambra State Police Command, were on the trail of criminals in the state, leading to the killing of three of the gunmen involved in the fatal attack at Uga Junction on December 28, 2023, that left four people dead, including two police officers, a vigilante operative and a mad man.
Disclosing this to newsmen at the State Police Headquarters, last Monday the Commissioner of Police, CP, Aderemi Adeoye, said his men took the action in order to ensure that Anambra State residents and returnees had a joyous celebration.
As a result, he revealed that the Command during the period of festivities, arrested 12 suspected kidnappers, nine suspected armed robbers, recovered 12 vehicles, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), walkie-talkies, 16 hand grenades, 40 cartridges, as well as rescued a 51- year old man who was kidnapped at Igboukwu in Aguata LGA.
He also said that three suspected gunmen involved in the attack at Uga Junction were neutralized at their camp in Ogboji, Orumba South LGA of the state.
CP Adeoye also said an AK-47 ammunition had been extracted from the skull of one of the police personal who assisted in killing the three kidnapped suspects.
According to Adeoye, the Command had launched a manhunt for the kidnapped suspects who killed two police officers from the Enugu State Command on escort duty at Uga on December 28.
‘We launched a manhunt and went after the criminals who committed that dubious crime. On 31st December, 2023, we trailed the gang to Ogboji.
Three of the suspects were neutralized in the shootout during the encounter. Two of our service personnel were injured as well. One was treated and discharged. One underwent a brain surgery and had an AK-47 ammunition extracted from his skull,’ Adeoye revealed.
