Uyo Anglican Bishop Marks One Year in Office

The Diocese of Uyo Anglican Communion is jubilant as Bishop Owen Ukafia JP celebrates his one-year anniversary as the Bishop of Uyo Diocese.

Since his Consecration on March 19, 2024, at the Cathedral Church of our Saviour, Ijebu Ode, the Diocese has witnessed tremendous growth and transformation.

The achievements under Bishop Ukafia’s Leadership are outstanding. The Diocese has experienced significant physical, spiritual, and Structural development. Some of his notable achievements include:

– Prioritizing the welfare of workers, increasing their salaries, and providing a conducive work environment.

– Introducing the Diocesan “Night of Encounter,” a program that has attracted hundreds of people across the Diocese, fostering a sense of unity and spirituality among the faithful.

– LAYING THE FOUNDATION STONES FOR SEVERAL PROJECTS, INCLUDING:

– Diocesan Administrative Block/Office Complex

– Church and Vicarage of Anglican Church of Pentecost Ikot Akpaden.

– Vicarage of True Vine Anglican Church Kampa

– Church building of Christ the Redeemer Obio Etoi

– Restoring the Diocesan Word Convention.

– Restoring Workers’ Superannuation fund after so many years of not being apart of Scheme in the Niger East . ( Any Clergy that retires will have his superannuation paid )

– Sending ten (10) Catechists to Theological College Umuahia for training, and ordaining them as Priests and Deacons in the Church of God

– Preferring Venerables and Collating them as Archdeacons in the Church of God

– Paying Leave Grants to all the Diocesan workers ( Clergy & Catechists)

And the wife of the Bishop and President Mother’s Union of the diocese  Lady Zilpah Owen Ukafia , (Mama Uyo) are also encouraging.

The Bishop’s wife, Lady Zilpah Owen Ukafia JP (Mama Uyo), has also made significant contributions to the Diocese, including:

– Purchasing wafer machines worth millions of Naira

– Reprinting the Diocesan women’s guide wrapper

– Constituting new groups in the women’s ministry, including Royal Vessels, Young Wives Fellowship, and Anglican Samuel Mission Fellowship

Bishop Ukafia’s vision for the Diocese is encapsulated in the slogan “New Uyo is Possible.” His passion for building and restructuring the Anglican Diocese of Uyo has inspired hope and optimism among the faithful.
