The traditional ruler of Umuona, Aguata LGA of Anambra State, Igwe Humphrey Ejesieme has prayed for peace, progress and love in the community, even as he thanks the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, for touching all facets of state economy, especially in agriculture.
The royal father who stated this while performing the New Yam Festival of the community, spoke of the significance of the new yam and its imperatives in providing food, security and promoting the Igbo cultural heritage.
He admonished Ndi Igbo to uphold their cultural heritage, saying that he had the right as the king of the town to celebrate the new yam, adding that after the celebration the community could now go ahead and eat the newly harvested yams.
Igwe Ejesieme, while applauding Gov. Obiano, urged him to construct the Umuona -Aguluizigbo Road, describing the road as strategic and important to the community.
In their separate speeches, Nze Fabian Ezeofor, the secretary of Ndi Nze; Nze Anthony Okonkwor, the treasurer; Prof. Akaolisa Ezeagu and Dr. Damian Ejesieme (Younger brother to the Igwe); felicitated the Igwe Umuona and prayed for the community to enjoy peace, progress and love.
Many speakers took their time to pour encomiums on Igwe Ejesieme for upholding the culture and tradition of the town.
Some traditional rulers that graced the occasion included Igwe Col. Christopher Moughalu, Igwe Isuofia; Igwe Alupuo of Ikenga; Ezenri of Oraeri, among others.
