By Ikeugonna Eleke

The President General of the Umunze Progressive Union (UPU), Engr. Ezekiel Iheazor, and a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Nze Ikechukwu Okoli, who were abducted in Umunze, Anambra State two weeks ago, have regained freedom.

The men were kidnapped at the residence of the APGA chieftain in Lomu Village in Umunze.

A local had told journalists then that the incident had sent shock waves in the community, throwing it into a mourning mood.

However, jubilation erupted in the community on Thursday night, October 17, when the community leader and the APGA chieftain were released by their abductors.

An indigene of the community said the men returned that Thursday night after staying over two weeks in the den of their abductors.

The source was however unable to state whether the families of the abductors paid any ransom before they were released.

As at the time of filing this report, police were yet to make official statement about the release of the men.
