A two storey building on Wednesday, January 29 evening, collapsed in Awka, the capital of Anambra State.
The building which was still under construction, very close to Diamond Pizza, along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, is a two storey affair awaiting roofing before its collapse.
It is however not clear the casualty figure in the incident, but some bystanders in the area said some artisans who were engaged in construction work in the building may have been trapped.
As at the time of filing this report, many volunteers were still at the site, trying to see if there were people trapped that could be rescued.
The cause of the collapse has however not been ascertained, as state government officials from the Material Testing Department of Ministry of housing were still arriving.
