Former Super Eagles star, Odion Ighalo, is the first-ever Nigerian football star to sign for Premier League giants Manchester United.

The 30-year-old signed a six-month loan deal with the Red Devils with the hope of getting an extension if he impresses at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Fides gathered that the ex-Nigeria U23 national team coach Fatai Amoo who discovered the player in the early 2000s reveals Ighalo’s mother prays for him every time they meet.

The former Shooting Stars coach noted that Ighalo’s mother has not stopped praying for him, especially when her son completed his dream move to Man United this winter.

‘I want to specially thank his mother for all her prayers. Whenever we meet, she prays for me as the coach who trained her son more than a decade ago.

‘She prayed for me at the beginning of the year, the mother still prayed for me when her son moved to Manchester United.

‘Ighalo is well brought up, he is from a good home, a great professional and he will surely succeed at Old Trafford.

‘Ighalo was a transfer deadline signing for the struggling Premier League side last month, joining Nathan Bishop and Bruno Fernandes who joined the club on a permanent basis.

‘Before joining the Red Devils, Ighalo spent some time at Warford scoring close 20 goals during his spell at the Vicarage Road,’ Amoo said.
