Old age they say, is a blessing from God. In gratitude to God for the special gift of their lovely husband, father, grandfather and father in-law, the Ezechukwus of Amuwo Village, Amesi, Aguata L.G.A, Anambra State on December 26, 2018, celebrated the patriarch of the family, Nze Boniface Uwaezuoke Ezechukwu on his 85th birthday.
Speaking shortly before the end of the concelebrated thanksgiving Mass that was held at St Vincent’s Parish, Amesi, the celebrant, Nze Ezechukwu fondly known as Ikpe malu eziokwu, thanked God for the healthy good life and wonderful family he blessed him with.
Pa Ezechukwu, who retired as a teacher in 1992 and worked as an accountant at Amesi Community Bank from 1992 to 2008, when he retired, was alongside his wife, Lady Theresa Ezechukwu honoured as an ideal couple of Awka Catholic Diocese in 2015. He appreciated all who joined them in the celebration.
The celebrant’s wife, Lady Theresa Ezechukwu, thanked God for the long life, good health, physical handsome traits and virtues he blessed his darling husband with. The wife, who fondly calls her husband Bon, said he was a prayer answered by God.
Lady Ezechukwu, who is a former organiser of Catholic Women’s Organisation (C.W.O), Akpo Deanery, described the husband as one endowed with rare humility, kindness and gentle spirit, whose charisma and simple way of life endeared him to many. According to Lady Ezechukwu, Bon, as a banker exhibited dedication to duty, honesty and unreserved service to humanity.
To the celebrant’s first son, Ikenna Ezechukwu, the father’s life was a gospel which he read on the importance of love, honesty and humility. He thanked God for the peace he blessed his father with, and prayed for continuous good health on him.
Onunuaku Family, Amuwo Village, Amesi, through the goodwill message that was signed by the chairman, Engr. Prince Oscar Ezechukwu, acknowledged what the family described as hard work and good representations of the kindred’s values which their elder statesman, Nze Boniface Ezechukwu exhibited throughout his civil service years.
