As construction progresses on the 8.8-kilometer stretch, four communities are on the cusp of transformation. Aguleri Otu, Enugu Otu, Eziagulu Otu, and Mkpunando are bidding farewell to isolation and embracing a brighter future, where the markets are reachable from the farms and health services available and affordable.
Bunker Roy, a renowned Indian social activist and educator, once said, “Strengthen the rural areas and you will find less people migrating to urban areas. You give them opportunity, Amenities, self-respect & self-confidence, they will never go to an urban slum.”
For years, the communities above were cut off by floods, forcing families to risk their lives on perilous river journeys to access basic necessities and markets. But that narrative is changing. The new road will slash travel time from hours by boat to under an hour by car, unlocking opportunities and connecting people to the heart of Aguleri.
Farmers will effortlessly transport their produce, leveraging the region’s fertile land to boost economic growth.
Mothers, children, and traders will enjoy unencumbered movement, a fundamental right often taken for granted elsewhere.
This road is more than infrastructure. It is a beacon of hope, access, and opportunity.
Its connection to the Solution General Hospital in Enugu Otu ensures patients receive timely medical care and a vital lifeline for the community.
True leadership is about tangible impacts. The government of Gov Chukwuma Charles Soludo (Oluatuegwu) has made development visible for all to witness.
Meanwhile, the goals are simple; “transforming lives and redefining the future to fit into the livable and prosperous Homeland”.
