Chaplain, for Anglican Students at Federal Science and Technical College FSTC, Awka, Reverend Engr. Chijioke Anaemena has frowned at the rate of Spiritual laxity and moral bankruptcy among tertiary institution students across board that they have abused the solemnity of marriage by engaging in sexual escapades in the name of campus marriages.
In his sermon to mark the 2026 Anglican Children Ministry,(ACM) diocese of Awka at the Church of The Holy Spirit, CHS, Awka, Reverend Engr. Anaemena wondered why students sent to study should co-habit and behave as couples, even win awards as best campus couples.
He asserted that the students should rather compete for grades rather than competing for immoral acts like best couples on campus even when not married.
Reverend Engr. Anaemena who is a priest assistant at CHS Awka Archdeaconry lamented that parents have encouraged their children to engage in sexual escapades in various Higher Institutions across the world as couples in the campuses sequel to their lackadaisical attitude in child upbringing.
He admonished parents to influence their children’s lifestyle for them to influence others in the society positively, lamenting the failure of some parents that their children couldn’t open up to them in times of challenges.
He noted that any parent whose child cannot open up to has failed, even as he prayed that parents should not fail in their duties.
He pointed out that parents can have unscheduled visits to, their children’s residence while on campus or enquire about their children as a measure to continue to keep them in check until graduation.
He further said that hindering children from coming to God is putting one in enmity with God. He asked parents to stop prioritizing mundane things for their children against the purpose of God. He reminded that only the children trained in the way of God that can carry on with the mind and purpose of God, hence, the need that parents must bring up their children in the mind and purpose of God.
He spoke on the theme:”Let the Children come to me” Mathew 19:14.
In his prayer mood , Reverend Dr. Nnaemeka Ezeonyi said parents have failed in their responsibilities on their children hence, there is chaos in the world which ordinarily wouldn’t be, if parents didn’t fail in ensuring their children took to God’s mind and purpose.
For the Vicar, CHS Awka and Archdeacon, CHS Awka Archdeaconry, Ven. Dr. Onyeka Egwuonwu while praying to God to sustain the ministry of Reverend Engr Chijioke Anaemena, pointed out that enemies are fighting against children of God but reassured that God’s plan on His children can’t be twarted.
