. . . As Fr. Ezeoke Holds Thanksgiving Mass, Eats New Yam

St. Theresa’s Catholic Parish, in Ichida, Anaocha LGA, Anambra State, Sunday, 6th October, marked the Feast Day of their Patron Saint, Theresa. The event which was kick-started with a Thanksgiving Mass, as well as the celebration of the New Yam Harvest by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Boniface Ezeoke, had the presence of the traditional rulers of Ekwulobia, Igwe Egnr. Chukwukadibia Emma Onyeneke; that of Umuchu, Igwe G.O. Ezechukwu; Igwe Chukwuma Bob Vincent Orji, Ezeugo Ato the II of Ezinifite, Aguata. Also in attendance were government officials, as well as the Directorate of CWO, Awka Diocese.
Speaking during the Mass, Fr. Ezeoke thanked God for life and for His protection over the parishioners through the intercession of their Patron Saint, St. Theresa.
He further appreciated God for the bountiful yam harvest and noted that it was a sign of God’s blessings on his people.
Speaking during his homily, the Director of Fides Media Limited, Rev. Fr. Dr. Martin Anusi, thanked God for the gift of the Patron Saint of the parish, Saint Theresa, who, he said, had been an influential model of sanctity for Catholics because of her simplicity and the practicality of her approach to spiritual life.
Noting that the Patron Saint used her life as a standard unto others, he encouraged Christians to be visionary and make proper use of what God had instilled in them to inspire others.
Fr. Anusi, advised parents to guide the life paths of their children and not in any way influence their career path by imposing on them that which they felt they should be.
Commending the Parish Priest, he noted he was a man of goodwill and thanked all who graced the event.
