St. Theresa’s Parish Ichida, on 1st December, 2019, kickstarted the Catholic Men Organisation in their parish with a concelebrated Holy Mass.
Present at the Holy Mass, was the president of the Catholic Men Organisation, Awka Diocese, Chief Ozor Vitus, the vice president, Mr Ofoedu Clement, the PRO, Sir Nnabuife Augustine, the chairman CMO, Neni Deanery, Sir Samuel Ndubuisi, who were there to officially set up CMO in the parish.
The Catholic Men Organisation which is a body that unites all lay men in the Catholic church is aimed at taking evangelism to the grassroot level.
Speaking in his homily during the Mass, the Fides Media Director, Rev. Fr.Dr. Martin Anusi, called on Christians to live uprightly with love, peace and holiness, so that they won’t be taken unawares when it was the set time of the Lord.
Fr Anusi based his reflections on the book of Isaiah 9:6, where Christ was called several names: The Wonderful, Counsellor; Mighty, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace. He pointed out that as Christians, they were supposed to live their lives reflecting peace, humility and complete holiness, reflecting Christ who he described as the Prince of peace.
Advising the men, Fr. Anusi, urged them to be vanguards of peace in the family, Church, Communities and wherever they found themselves. He enjoined them to organise themselves together and take grassroot evangelism seriously through the Catholic Men Organisation.
At the end of the Mass, the Parishioners formed the Catholic Men Organisation in the parish and a caretaker committee which included Mr. Maduka Livinus, Mr Okeke Edwin, Mr Azuka Nicholas, Mr Nwachukwu Albert and Mr. Ikejiofor Livinus, was set.
Other events of the day were the dedication and baptism of Masters Augustine Ezeafulukwe and Shedrach Nwaedu by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Boniface Ezeoke.
