
. . As School vows to Produce World Best Nurses

Awka Diocesan owned St. Joseph’s College of Nursing Science, Adazi-Nnukwu, Anaocha LGA, Anambra State has emerged overall winner of the 2019 Nursing and Midwifery Council Professional Examination.
The College emerged winner of the Council’s Professional Examination sequel to the brilliant performance of her student, Miss Chisom Ezeani and her emergence as the overall best student in the Nursing and Midwifery Council final qualifying examination for midwives.
The Examination was organized by Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria for all Nursing and Midwifery students in Nigeria for the first batch of Students in March.
Fides gathered that the award clinched by the student has positioned the Awka Diocesan owned College of Nursing Sciences among the best Nursing schools in Nigeria.
Presenting the award, the manager of the college, Rev Fr Jerome Okafor re-affirmed the commitment of the college to produce world best first class nurses that would compete with others anywhere in the world. He noted that the winner was able to emerge because of the good formation given to them.
He maintained that the award came to them as a big surprise, saying that they had being performing excellently in the state level, noting that it was their first time winning at the national level. He stated that the exam holds only two times in a year which was in March and November, with the March set, making them the overall winner.
Reacting to the award, the Catholic bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor, Commended the winner, Miss Chisom Ezeani for emerging as the overall winner of Nursing and Midwifery Council professional exams, saying it’s a milestone achievement for the institution. He said the award came as a result of hard work advising the students to take their studies seriously.
In a chat with Fides, the award winner, Miss Chisom Ezeani, stated that the award was from Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, saying that the exams was held in March 2019 for the graduating students in Nigeria which saw her through as the overall winner. She commended their teachers for their efforts and putting them through, saying it was not easy to emerge the winner at the national level.
Also speaking, the provost, College of Nursing Sciences, Adazi-Nnukwu, Mrs. Fransica Atakuru, stated that the winner, Miss Ezeani, was a brilliant student, saying that she was a hardworking student in terms of her studies and obedience. She said that the award given to them had made the school proud. She advised other students to take their studies seriously in order to achieve their goals.
