The wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Dr Nonye Soludo, has announced plans to commence training for ladies in the state in skilled professions, especially those mostly dominated by men.

She said the training was targeted at closing gender gaps in certain areas where there were few or no women offering such services.

In a social media post to announce this, she listed some of the professions such  ladies would be trained in to include: solar/CCTV installation, electrical repairs, carpentry, vehicle and keke mechanic, painting, among others.

She said: ‘Our aim is to train, mentor, and support a new generation of passionate, skilled workers who will close existing gender gaps and bring unique talents into the field.

‘My NGO, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, is now opening up a great platform for girls living in Anambra State to pursue careers in selected professions.

‘This is another great opportunity for young, enterprising Anambra ladies who are very passionate about learning new skills and advancing their careers in thriving skill-based occupations,’ she said.
