The Provost of Anambra State College of Health Technology (ASCOHT), Obosi, Mr. Daniel Ezeobi, has described Gov Chukwuma Soludo’s two years in office as dynamic and purposeful during which the state has witnessed positive changes, innovations in many sectors of the state economy and a total turnaround of the economic fortunes of the state.

Mr. Ezeobi commended the governor for what he described as his unprecedented strides in virtually all sectors, especially his multi-sectoral development in key sectors like education, road, infrastructure development, health and environment; as well as in transportation, commerce and industry, housing and job creation.

In education, which he said was key to socio-economic development, he lauded Soludo for his efforts to give the sector the much desired lift, even as he praised his leadership for its immense contributions to his college, the Anambra State College of Health Technology, Obosi, which contributions, he noted, had entrenched quality service delivery to the school.

Mr. Ezeobi described youth employment as most crucial under the current dire economic condition in the country and noted that the governor’s employment programme since the inception of his leadership was worthy of praise. He commended him for his One Youth, Two Skills Initiative, which, he said, had today advanced to One Youth, Twenty Skills Initiative, with many more skills incorporated and about 2000 Anambra Youths gainfully employ.

His words, ‘While the Soludo Administration is working assiduously in this employment direction, the Federal Government has come in to upgrade four vocational skills centres in the state like the ones at Alor, Ifite-dunu, Akwaeze and Enugu Adazi, for digitalized skill centres, as the pinnacle of collective efforts in advancing apprenticeship development  in Anambra.

‘The centres represent more than just physical structures; they symbolize the commitment of the government to mass production of a skilled workforce capable of meeting the demands of a rapidly changing economy based on advances in technology.’

Ezeobi lauded Soludo for keying the youth into the digital era and equipping them with the necessary competence to thrive in the competitive market, noting that the centres represented the state government’s vision of inclusive growth and empowerment.

He observed that 90% of successful men from the South East passed through this training and said that Gov Soludo had taken full cognizance of the importance of skill acquisition ab initio and within two years in office many Anambra youth were happy with their businesses.

The Provost stated that the two years under review had shown an administration that had exhibited unshakable political will in implementing its robust programmes and policies and cited the clearance of illegal structures at Onitsha, Nnewi, Awka and parts of Ekwulobia to ease traffic flow as a case in point.

He recalled Soludo’s innovation in Agriculture, the provision of palm and coconut seedlings to 1000 farmers in the state and road construction and reconstruction in agrarian communities of the state, noting that it had mitigated hunger in Anambra.

‘Never in the History of Anambra State have we seen an administration that embarked on numerous road projects at the same time like the present Soludo Administration. Within just two years in office, a total of 258 road projects have been completed and over 280 are ongoing. It’s a great feat that’s made hitherto hard-to-reach areas accessible,’ he said, just as he hailed Soludo’s strides in the health sector of which his college benefitted.

Examining his programmes and policies and their mode of execution Mr. Ezeobi came to the conclusion that Anambra State is witnessing a lot of positive changes in all spheres of governance.

‘Soludo’s resolve to make the state a livable and prosperous homeland for all, has ensured that all aspects of his governance point towards the realization of these goals and with the fast pace of development on ground today, his administration will definitely achieve most of its set goals within its first tenure.

The provost urged the people of the state to support Soludo, noting that no government will succeed without the support of its people; just as he enjoined the youth to key into government’s job creation programmes to be useful citizens and contribute their quota to nation building.

Mr. Ezeobi pledged the support of the Management, teachers and students of his college to Soludo’s Administration.
