Soludo Focused On Governance, Not Campaigns Yet - Says APGA

By Ikeugonna Eleke

The ruling party in Anambra State, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has said its Governorship Candidate, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, is more focused on delivering governance than on campaigning for re-election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on June 11 lifted the ban on campaigns for the Governorship Election slated for November 8 this year.

In a press statement released on Thursday by the National Publicity Secretary of APGA, Mr Ejimofor Opara, he said the Governor and everyone on his team were taking governance seriously, and beginning campaigns so early would be a distraction.

He said: ‘First, as a government, there are deadlines that Governor Soludo has set for himself and everyone on the Solution Team. Thus, a campaign at this time would be more of a distraction, and Ndi Anambra will not accept excuses.

‘Since June 11, INEC has blown the whistle for the race to the Light House Awka (the new Government House). Many have called to enquire about our plans for the campaigns.

‘For the first time in the state’s known History, Ndi Anambra will be making a decision based on massive evidence of sterling performance, not hearsay.

‘Across the length and breadth of the state, Soludo is stamping indelible footprints that require consolidation; nothing will veer him off this track.’

He described political parties who have commenced campaigns as lesser masquerades who are keeping the square warm, before the arrival of the big masquerade, who, he said, was Prof Chukwuma Soludo.

He said that for now, Soludo was very busy, and that APGA encouraged him to remain focused, stating, ‘Our vehicle is sound, and the road ahead is clear.’
