By Mmaduabuchi Onwumelu

In a major stride towards transforming education through technology, the Anambra State Government, under the Smart Learn Anambra Initiative, hosted a landmark “Train the Trainer” Conference in partnership with Edves, a leading provider of school management software solutions.

Held on March 26, 2025, the conference marked a pivotal step in the state’s mission to embed digital learning tools within public education.

The “Train the Trainer” model is a strategic approach aimed at building a sustainable framework for knowledge sharing—empowering selected educators to transfer their acquired skills to peers in their respective schools.

Addressing the participants, Hon. Chiamaka Nnake, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, highlighted the Soludo Administration’s commitment to bridging the gap between public and private education through smart learning. She stressed the importance of equipping community schools with cutting-edge digital tools to provide equitable, future-ready education for every child in Anambra.

Dimeji Falana, CEO and Co-founder of Edves, delivered hands-on sessions on navigating the Smart School portal, setting up teacher accounts, and leveraging digital tools for improved classroom engagement.

To ensure continuous learning, follow-up online sessions will be held over the next three weeks.

Prof. Nkechi Ikediugwu, Chairman of the Post Primary Schools Service Commission (PPSSC), encouraged the participants to embrace the training wholeheartedly, describing the initiative as a transformative opportunity to redefine teaching and learning outcomes across the state.

Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, Managing Director of the Anambra State ICT Agency, expressed gratitude to Mr. Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, for his unwavering support for educational innovation.

He noted that the Governor’s vision remains central to the success of the Smart Learn Initiative.

Each of the 22 pilot schools under the Smart Learn Anambra project was represented by a team of six educators at the training.

Participants pledged to cascade the training within their schools and play an active role in bringing the Smart Learn Vision to life.

The Smart Learn Anambra Project stands as a bold testament to the state’s commitment to educational reform.

By empowering teachers with modern tools and digital skills, Anambra State is laying the foundation for a generation of tech-savvy learners, equipped to thrive in the 21st Century.
