Speaking at the formal launch of the Batch 3 at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Anambra, the State Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, Hon Afam Mbanefo, reiterated the commitment of Gov Willie Obiano’s administration to fight unemployment by exploring the creative economy.

Mbanefo explained that just like the previous batches, successful trainees would be duly empowered to carry on with what they would have learnt.

‘The empowerment initiative, according to her, was a unique scheme aimed at arming every Anambra Youth with at least one skill that will assure self-reliance and sustainable development amongst young people.

‘Many will be given access to grants and other funding support; some will be equipped with necessary materials and accessories to start their preferred skill trade while others will undergo internship for proper mentoring towards becoming leaders in their chosen skill areas.

‘In line with the vision of Gov Willie Obiano of Anambra State to create a pool of young people that will dictate the pace on the digital space, the Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy has a host of quality programmes and projects that can be of huge benefit to Anambra Youths.

‘Some of the ongoing programmes include, All-In-One Creative Centre; Project SmartJobs; Tripple I (Inventor Investor Initiative); Youth Entrepreneurship Start-up (YES Program); Movie Village; Youth In Agriculture Project; and Anambra Concert.

‘Others include, the Youth TV, Funding Support and the Digital Entrepreneurship Office, a centre for nurturing and expansion of ICT Development, TechNovation and Digital Entrepreneurship.

‘The programmes are open to every youth in Anambra but only accessible after registering at the States E-Youth Centre, www.anambrayouth.ng… An online platform for data capturing,’ he said.

Mbanefo said 100 participants making up the 3rd batch of the “One Youth, One Skill” were currently on a 10-day intensive training, via a special package that included free tuition, accommodation and feeding.
