A Foundation known as Selfless4African in partnership with Ikenna and Ujuka Iloabuchi Foundation, on December 11, handed over projects worth Millions of Naira to Holy Name Secondary School, Umuchu, Aguata LGA, Anambra State, as part of their contributions to education development.
The projects which were part of the two USA-based foundations’ 2019 donations to schools, included renovation, flooring and fixing of toilet doors and installation of modern toilet facilities, tiling of the floor of the ICT building, replacement of black boards with white boards in all the classrooms and cash awards to three outstanding students of the Holy Name Secondary School, Umuchu.
Commissioning the projects on behalf of Ikenna Iloabuchi, who hails from Agulu, Anambra State, an Umuchu indigenous Catholic priest, Rev Fr Barr Anthony Ezeoke, appreciated the two Foundations for their goodwill.
Pointing out that the members of the Foundations were on acharity mission because of the compassion they had to help the needy, Fr Ezeoke enjoined all to contribute to the wellbeing of others, especially the needy among them.
He appealed to the Selfless4African Foundation to continuously reach out and help the needy Africans.
Receiving the projects at the commissioning and handover ceremony which concided with their PTA Meeting, the Manager/Principal, Holy Name Secondary School, Umuchu, Rev Fr Charles Ezeugwa, thanked the groups for their goodwill and what he described as their worthwhile donations to the institution. He noted that the projects would go a long way in the promotion of academic excellence and healthy living among the staff and the students.
In their various speeches, the School Bursar, Mrs Caroline Muotolu, who spoke on behalf of the staff; the PTA Chairman, Mr Chikezie Ezenwamma, and the school’s Senior Prefect, Chinenye Ezeabasili, extolled the Foundations for their various donations to the school.
Mrs Muotolu, who said she was particularly delighted over the provision of the white boards and the modern toilet facilities, which put an end to their old pit toilet, said such would keep the staff and the students away from infections.
Speaking to the press, the Nigerian representative and Programme Director of Selfless4African Foundation, Comrade Emmanuel Duezeh, Jnr, said the Foundation was formed by a group of USA-based Africans, who had been contributing their resources to human, health and educational development in Africa.
Duezeh, who is also the Director of Ikenna &Ujuka Iloabuchi Foundation, said the Foundation, alongside the Selfless4African Foundation which they belonged to, had to ameliorate the sufferings of the Africans as their mission and vision.
The three students that smiled home with cash awards of five thousand Naira each from the Foundations were JohnBosco Ezeigbo, as the most skillful and hardworking student; MaryCynthia Ezeuchegbu, as the most intelligent student and Miracle Iheme as the most committed school functionary.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of certificate of project commissioning to the school.
