Saint Johnbosco Seminary, Isuaniocha, was agog, Saturday, January 8, when the Management splashed awards at some of their students for performing exceptionally in several categories
The Rector of the Seminary, Reverend Father Paul-Mary Chukwukebe, said the yearly event afforded them the time to appreciate their students who had performed well in diverse categories, as well as decorate them with befitting awards.
He noted that some of the awards were instituted by individuals who were friends of the seminary and urged the awardees to keep up with their good work.
The most decorated student, Alexander Nnabuife, won six awards out of the seventeen given at the occasion.
Nnabuife received awards as best student in Civic Education, Book Keeping, History, Physics, Christian Religious Knowledge. The Best Behaved Student Award was given by Lady Oby Onyenwe.
Speaking to Fides, Nnabuife said he repeated SS1 for failing Mathematics at the seminary but that it spurred him to start paying attention in the class and was thus able to pick up in his academic work which helped him to achieve the feat.
He also said his heart was filled with joy and described his performance as a comeback to failure.
Other students who had awards in other areas were: Udoji Gerald, Best Performed Student, WASSCE; Ikechukwu Samuel, Best in Mathematics; Odilichukwu Peter, Best in Igbo; Cosmas Obiora, Best in Literature; Ozua Pascal, Best in French; Ezenwaka Charles, Best in Latin Diploma.
Others were, Nwafor Paulinus, Best in English; Okoli Michael, Anisiobi Paulicarp Francis and Anyika Augustine as Best in Government for SS1, SS2 and SS3 respectively; while Eya Anthony was Best in Mathematics.
Also, while St. Paul’s Dormitory won the award of the neatest dormitory, Okoye House emerged the winner of the Inter-House Quiz Competition.
Rev. Fr Chukwukebe, speaking after the awards were presented to the awardees, said he was happy to know that Nnabuife did not only show prowess in academics, but also did so in character. He noted that it was worthy of emulation.
