In a swift and decisive operation, the Anambra State Police Command has successfully rescued a kidnapped victim just seven hours after the abduction occurred on September 30, 2025.

A press statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the victim was abducted by armed assailants in Umuru Village, Nnobi, in Idemili South Local Government Area.

The suspects later demanded a ransom of N10 million. But acting on intelligence, the Command’s Tactical Team launched a coordinated operation in the Oba/Ojoto area, forcing the kidnappers to flee into the bush and abandon the victim.

‘The rescued individual was found unharmed, debriefed by the Police, and safely reunited with their family.

‘The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, praised the tactical team for their prompt response and reiterated the Command’s dedication to safeguarding life and property. The Anambra State Police Command remains fully committed to the protection of residents and the fight against crime,’ Ikenga said.

He disclosed that efforts were ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects, while noting that the Command urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.

‘This successful rescue highlights the police’s proactive strategy in addressing kidnapping and other criminal threats across Anambra State,’ he said.
