Police Foil Attempt to Kidnap Foreigner, Recover Four Dead Bodies in Anambra – 

Operatives of Anambra Police Command on Sunday, 6th October, 2024, foiled attempt to kidnap a foreigner at Ogbunka, Orumba South local government area of the state by suspected armed secessionists.

In a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Ikenga Tochukwu; “The operatives bravely engaged the assailants in a gun battle, successfully rescuing the VIP. Unfortunately, two police operatives were injured in the exchange but managed to escape with the foreigner. They are in stable condition and currently receiving treatment at a hospital.Operations are ongoing in the area to apprehend the armed suspects.”

“Meanwhile in a separate incident, police attached to the Nimo Police Station responded to a distress call at 8:25 PM on the same day, regarding a suspected cult clash in Umukwa, Nawfia. Upon arrival, they discovered four young men lying lifeless on the road, surrounded by a pool of blood and showing signs of multiple gunshot wounds,” he further stated.

“The victims were pronounced dead by a doctor on duty and their bodies have been taken to the morgue.

“They were later identified as Ebuka Nwaonkwube Ekenta from Mmimi village, Nnatuanya Junior A.K.A. Starboy from Mmimi village, Aniemena A.K.A. Osama from Umuariam village, and Ahmed Auwal.

“Eyewitnesses and local villagers report that the deceased were notorious for their illicit activities and were often involved in rivalries with another cult group in the area.

“In response to these events, joint patrols with operatives from the Special Anti-Cultism Squad (SPACS) have been intensified in the region.

“In another development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has ordered an immediate investigation into the horrific murder of a 17-year-old girl believed to have been used for ritual purposes.

“The girl’s body was discovered in a bush in Omasi village at 4:25 PM on October 6, 2024. She was later identified as Chinasa Adigwe from Umueje village, and her body had been mutilated before police were alerted. The body has since been recovered and taken to the morgue.

“The CP expressed condolences to the family, friends, and community of the deceased, assuring them that the police will take all necessary measures to apprehend those responsible for this heinous crime and ensure justice is served,” part of the statement reads.
