A suspect who was named in the burning of a 74 year old woman in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, has been arrested.
Four persons had been earlier arrested for their involvement in the matter, but Obinna Anene who was named as the prime suspect had escaped.
It had been earlier gathered that the incident was linked to ritual killing between the suspect and another lady.
The spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, revealed the arrest of the suspect in a press release.
He said: ‘Obinna Anene, aged 33 years of Amenye Village, Abagana, who was mentioned as the principal suspect in the case of burning and killing of a 74-year-old woman, Alice Anene, at Abagana on 27/01/2025, has been arrested.
‘He is being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide, SCID, Section Awka, for a de-brief. Further details shall be communicated,’ he said.
