Despite his recent experiences in the country following the 2023 Presidential Election, the lawmaker representing Awka South 1 State Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Nigeria Henry Mbachu, has urged the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, not to give up in his quest to enthrone a New Nigeria.
Mbachu gave the advice in his congratulatory message to Obi on his recognition as the Political Icon of the Year, 2023, by the Sun Newspaper.
He described the former governor of Anambra State as a man who represented the yearnings and aspirations of every Nigerian, as well as a leader capable of navigating the country from its present condition to a prosperous path.
The statement read, ‘I congratulate Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, CON (Okwute), on his recognition as the Political Icon of the Year, 2023, by the Sun Awards.
‘The Sun Awards is a prestigious media honour that celebrates individuals who have made significant contributions to various fields of endeavour in Nigeria. Mr. Obi, the leader and 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, was bestowed with the award at a ceremony in Lagos on Saturday, February 17, 2024.
‘The award is meritorious and well-deserved because Mr. Obi, in the last general elections, changed the political trajectory of Nigeria since the return of democracy 25 years ago.
‘Mr. Obi visibly represents the yearnings and aspirations of every Nigerian and can navigate the country from its present condition to a prosperous path.
‘I implore Mr. Obi to remain unwavering in his push to see that Nigeria breaks free from bad governance and creates the envisioned New Nigeria.
‘I equally pray God to grant him grace and unlimited strength. Congratulations!!’
