Paul University, Awka Post Graduate Students of Mass Communication,  visited Fides Media on a media production tour.

The students who embarked on the tour, July 30, and were led by their lecturer, Dr Azubuike Nkala, were received in the Editorial Department by the Editor-in-Chief, Mr Jude Atupulazi, and the Proofreader, Lady Ifeoma Nwadi.

Dr. Nkala appreciated Fides Media for hosting them, stating that he brought his students for a practical session on newspaper production as he wanted them to see for themselves the things they had been taught theoretically in class.

Mr Atupulazi, explained the function of the Editorial Department, which he described as the gatekeeper, as well as how news was gathered and the various stages the news went through and how they were planned before getting to the printing section.

Led by Mr Atupulazi, the students were taken on a tour round the media house, beginning from the press where they saw the various processes involved in newspaper production, with further explanations given to them by the workers in each unit. They were also taken round the graphics section, the studio, the branding section, the TV production room, and the media library.

The Production Manager, Mr. Alexander-Johnson Adejoh, gave the students a quick rundown of the operations of the Printing and Branding Sections. He taught them the various types of papers in use in Nigeria, the things that could be Branded, and the nature of jobs the media outfit took on.

Dr. Nkala during an interview later, expressed satisfaction with what they saw, saying that he was happy that his students were able to see all the things they had been taught in class and could now compete with their contemporaries in various universities across the nation.

The course representative, Mrs Rachel Egbo Desmond, said the Fides Media environment was very neat and organized. ‘We have been hearing of Fides but this is the first time most of us are visiting here.  We are very happy that we have come to see what is happening here,’ she said.
