It was a moment of joy and celebration among the congregation of Our Saviour’s Anglican Church, Awka, as they joined their counterparts world over to commemorate the Triumphant Entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.
The Special Sunday, which was filled with fanfare of songs of praises to the Lord, with waving of palm fronds by the excited worshippers, featured among others, special prayer for Nigeria’s political leaders, particularly the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo; his deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim; President Bola Tinubu, among others.
Speaking during the sermon, the priest in charge of Our Saviour’s Church, the Revd Canon Azubuike Mgbikeh, advised Christians to live a life of humility, peace and service, as Christ did while on earth.
The Revd Canon Mgbikeh identified simplicity and humility as outstanding characteristics of Christ expected of every child of God.
The Anglican cleric said, ‘Children of God are known with humility, not pride. That’s why the spirit of God urges us to be humble.’
He enjoined Christians to exhibit high sense of humility in their homes, workplaces, among others, as children of God for a godly society.
The cleric reminded Christians that pride and other characters, which did not represent Christ in their lives, amounted to crucifying Him a second time.
Thanksgiving, procession by worshippers, among other side attractions, added glamour to the Special Sunday.
