Renowned philanthropist and President of Transcorp, Mr Valentine Ozigbo, has expressed his deepest sympathies with the victims of last Sunday’s pipeline explosion in Abule Ado, Lagos State.

Ozigbo described the incident as most unfortunate, especially when such could have been avoided by better planning by concerned authorities.

He also condoled with the staff and management of Bethlehem High School, Abule Ado, whose principal, Rev Sister Henrietta Alokha, along with others, was killed in the explosion while rescuing her students.

Ozigbo said the sister’s action was worthy of emulation in a country increasingly becoming bereft of human kindness and feelings. He also commended all those first responders who played active roles in the rescue of many.

The Anambra guber hopeful prayed for the repose of the souls of the victims, even as he prayed God to give the bereaved families the fortitude to bear the loss. He also prayed for concerned citizens to come to the rescue of all those affected in one way or the other, from those who lost their houses, cars, businesses to personal properties.

He finally called on town planning authorities to ensure adequate safety and security of such installations and also that oil and gas pipelines are not situated near residential buildings or markets in order to avert future catastrophes.
