No fewer than 213 Catholics were, December 1, 2024 strengthened in the faith through the Sacrament of Confirmation at Queen of All Hearts Parish, Aguluzigbo, in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor.

The Bishop delivering homily

The auspicious event was occasioned by the bishop’s pastoral visit to the parish. He was received by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr Ephraim Igwilo; his Vicar, Fr. Victor Ejie; and the entire parishioners. The event began with an Episcopal Mass officiated by the Catholic prelate.

While the Bishop expressed joy that he was celebrating the First Sunday of Advent and the new month with the parishioners, 5 years after his last visit, he spoke elaborately on the readings of the day, dwelling on the virtue of hope and trust in God’s providence. He educated the congregation on the essence of pastoral visits, noting that it was a moment where the Bishop interacted with the parishioners to understand how far they had been doing in terms of spiritual and physical growth.

The Bishop in his homily also weighed in on some of the issues concerning the parish and proffered solutions to them. He further admonished the newly confirmed Catholics to always stay in the light of God and defend the gospel as soldiers of Jesus Christ.

For his part, the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr Ephraim Igwilo, expressed joy at the visit of the Bishop. Fr Igwilo thanked the Bishop of the diocese; the Chancellor, Rev. Fr Charles Ndubuisi; all priests present and the parishioners who contributed meaningfully to the success of the pastoral visit.
