APC stalwart and philanthropist, Engineer Johnbosco Onunkwo has described the recent fire disaster at the Onitsha market as a loss to many and has urged the State Government to be more proactive when it comes to issues that affect the people, especially traders who depend on the sells of wares for their daily upkeep.

The Umuchu born Philanthropist stated this when he visited the Ochanja Market which had recently suffered a devastating fire outbreak on Wednesday that consumed lives and property worth millions of Naira.

Engineer Onunkwo who was moved to tears by the level of devastation urged the people to bear the loss with stoic fortitude.

Prior to the visit, he had earlier visited some of the victims at the Toronto Hospital, Onitsha, where he sympathized with them.

“I am at a loss with the level of destruction that I have witnessed here, I want to state that with what I have seen, the media stories and coverage did not report half of what happened here; this is an unmitigated disaster.

I must however urge the State Government led by Governor Willie Obiano to be more proactive in such matters. The state government should begin to adapt to Health Safety Environment practices, which would have helped the situation much.

Engineer Johnbosco who donated some amount of cash and some relief items to the leadership of the market, said all wealthy Anambraians and Nigerians alike should reach out to help the victims irrespective of one’s party affiliations.

Accompanying him were a number of APC Chieftains and also second runner up for the Big Brother Naija 2019 Edition, Frodd.
