Ohaneze Takes Grassroots Mobilization to Ayamelu

The Apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, Anambra State Chapter, has inaugurated the Ayamelum Local Government Chapter executive members of the organization.
The executive has Chief Romanus Ogugua as its chairman; Mr. Chukwudi Ekwunife, deputy chairman; Chief Udeozo Ugo, secretary and Chief Ignatius Machie, as Legal Adviser.

Fides reports that the inauguration process began with a courtesy call on the traditional ruler of Anaku, Igwe Peter Ofokansi, by the state executive of Ohaneze.

Receiving the team led by the state president of the organization, Ichie Damian Okeke-Ogene, Igwe Ofokansi, alongside his Umuejecounterpart, Igwe Elias Nneli, pledged their support to theorganization, noting that Ohaneze was fighting a cause that could only be achieved through oneness.

The transition committee chairman, Ayamelum Local Government Area, Mr Benjamin Onyeabo, also received the Ohaneze state executive on a courtesy visit where he commended the organization for setting up such grassroots structure, which, according to him, would yield positive results in making the Igbo voice to be more formidable.

While inaugurating the new executive members, the Ohaneze Ndigbo Anambra State Chapter president, Chief Okeke-Ogene, stressed the need for restructuring, in Nigeria.

Chief Okeke-Ogene noted that Ohaneze was fighting for the progress and development of the Igbo Nation, as well as justice and equity; noting that Ndi Igbo controlled the greater percentage of Nigeria’s economy.

Speaking on behalf of the newly inaugurated executive members, the chairman, Ohaneze Ndigbo, Ayamelum Council Area, Chief Ogugua, who regretted that most youths were going out of line with respect to Igbo cultural values, urged parents to teach their children the Igbo culture to ensure sustainability.

For the national deputy financial secretary, Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Elder Chris Eluemunoh, violence and fighting one another would not help Ndigbo to achieve their goal, except through unity, patience and diplomacy.

The event, which was held at the Ayamelum Local Government Secretariat Hall, Anaku, attracted the clergy, community leaders, among others and featured presentation of certificates to the newly inaugurated executive members.
