Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has called on religious bodies in the state to be more united in order to assist in securing a better society for all.
He made the call when a delegation of Methodist Church of Nigeria led by the Methodist Bishop of Onitsha Diocese, Right Reverend Livinus Onuagha paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Awka.
The Governor represented by his Deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke who frowned at hatred and disunity that exist among Christians in today’s society, called for brotherly love and tolerance amongst religious bodies in the State, warning that disunity drags both the church and society backward.
Describing the present administration as government for all, irrespective of denomination, Chief Obiano assured the Methodist faithful of equal treatment with other churches.
Speaking earlier, Right Reverend Onuagha described the Obiano led administration as focused and productive, praying for more of God’s wisdom on the Governor and his Deputy for more positive transformation of the State.
Right Reverend Onuagha however appealed to the Governor to carry Methodist Church along in the scheme of things, as according to him the church is committed to Nation building.
The Bishop used the opportunity to inform the Governor of the proposed Apostolic visit of the Prelate of Methodist Church of Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr. Samuel Kanu to the State next month.
