The Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has donated an 18-seater bus to the College of Nursing Sciences, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Adazi-Nnukwu, for emerging the overall best in the 2019 Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria Professional Examination. This is even as he offered a certificate of recognition to Miss Mary Cynthia Chisom Ezeani, a former student of the College, which will enable her to get employment in any government hospital. He also gave her one million Naira cash.
Receiving them at the Executive Chambers of the Government House with members of the Executive Council, Gov Obiano re-stated his administration’s commitment to the promotion of education to a higher standard in the state.
He congratulated Ezeani on her brilliant performance which he described as a unique honour to Anambra State.
Obiano said it was his practice to appreciate, encourage and celebrate youths of the state who excelled in their field; adding that it was aimed at motivating other youths of the state to aspire to greater heights at the state, national and international levels.
The governor presented Miss Ezeani, the Anambra State Certificate of Recognition, as well as a personal purse of one million Naira and an automatic employment in any state-owned hospital. He also donated an eighteen-sitter bus to the College for producing such an award winner in the state.
Responding on behalf of the school, the Administrator of St. Joseph’s Hospital Complex, Rev. Fr. Jerome N. Okafor, thanked the governor for his gestures to the winner and the school. He told the governor that his words of encouragement and his act of generosity would challenge both the students and members of staff of the College represented at the award presentation.
Fr Okafor promised that the school would put in more efforts in bringing more awards and honours to the state.
The recipient of the award, Miss Ezeani, thanked the governor for his generosity and love for education. She assured him that she would use her knowledge and skills in nursing to serve humanity and to serve the state. In a special way, she thanked the Management of the College for their ability to impact positively on her academic and moral life.
Miss Ezeani is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cyprian Ezeani of Akwaeze in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State. She is an ex-student of College of Nursing Sciences, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Adazi-Nnukwu. She emerged the overall best candidate in the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria in their final qualifying professional examination for Midwives, March 2019, and was given an award by the Forum of National Association of Heads of Nursing and Midwifery Institutions in Nigeria.
