A twelve man committee to work out modalities for the conduct of election into the Nsugbe Development Union has been inaugurated.
The committee was inaugurated during a meeting convoked by the patrons of the union, held at the Nsugbe Town Hall.
Our correspondent who covered the event and reported that the Patrons convoked the meeting in accordance with the Town’s constitution that provides for patrons of the town union which will comprise of not more than three persons, that must be sixty years and above.
That portion of the constitution allows the patrons to broker peace in the affairs of the town whenever the need arises, through any means they deemed fit.
In view of this, the Patrons of the Union Chiefs Mike Egbuche and Amechi Okeke called for a meeting of all Nsugbe people both home and abroad.
After deliberations, the meeting unanimously constituted a committee that will bring out modalities for the conduct of the election.
Inaugurating the committee, one of the patron’s chief Egbuche charged the committee to ensure peaceful resolutions of all the issues affecting the peace of the community and ensure that an election is conducted as planned.
A former Senator that represented Anambra North Senatorial District, Senator Ubanese Igbeke, and the immediate past Member that represented Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, Honourable Tony Nwoye, and another stakeholder in the community, Mr. KC Emoh and many others said it was high time an election is conducted in the town, to usher in more development.
They advised youths of the community to engage themselves meaningfully as a way of fostering development of the community.
Responding on behalf of other members of the Committee, the chairman of the Committee, Reverend Father Ifeanacho Egbuniwe ,promised that they will work hard and fast to ensure that things work out well.
Over one hundred and fifty indigenes of the community were present at the meeting.
