The prestigious Nze and Ozo Council of Nri Ancient Kingdom in Anambra State has conferred Ozoebubechukwu title to Chief AnthonyUgoji popularly known as Okigbo Mbem sequel to his initiation into theOzo Nri Traditional Society.

Ugoji, the special Adviser to Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano on Events, was conferred the Ozoebubechukwu title on Saturday, February 22at his compound, Umunbe Obeagu Village, Nri, Anaocha LGA, Anambra State by Oba Sir Larry Nwagwu.

Fides gathered that the induction of Okigbo Mbem into the Ozoship Council of Nri Kingdom provides an opportunity for him to become part of the decision making body in the community.

Speaking after the initiation into the Ozo Nri Traditional Society, Chief Sir Anthony Ugoji, he vowed to continually stand on the path of truth and to ensure that all persons seeking redress received fair judgment in accordance with the Laws of the Land. He said that his new position has created an avenue for him to help the poor masses more and noted that his conduct in the community and need to work for the people necessitated his initiation into the prestigious Ozo Council.

Okigbo Mbem who is a Knight of St. John’s International, maintained that his initiation into the Ozo Council has made him one of the key custodians of Igbo culture and tradition, saying that the position would make him more responsible and responsive to the affairs of the community.

Speaking to Journalists, Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, congratulated Sir Ugoji on his initiation into the prestigious Ozoship Council of Nri Kingdom, saying that the initiation has conferred great honour to Sir Ugoji. He beckoned on him to use his position as an Ozo to better the life of others and stand always on the path of truth which Ndi Ozo over the years had been known for.

Governor Obiano who was represented by the MD/CEO Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS)Nze Uche Nworah, charged Okigbo Mbem to keep toeing the line of tradition as it relates with Ozo title, saying that Ozos in Igbo land are known to be very truthful individuals who were ever ready to commit their resources for the good of others and stand for peace.

Also Speaking, The Traditional Ruler of Enugu-Ukwu na Umunri, Igwe Ralph Ekpeh, disclosed that the Ozoship title was reserved exclusively for people of integrity whose character have been put to test over time. He charged Okigbo Mbem to continuously stand on the path of truth and have great reverence for the laws of the land, saying that such was required from an Ozo title holder.

For his part, The President General of Nri, Oba Kevin Obiegbunam,described the Ozoship Council as a society greatly revered in the community and urged the new member to continue with the good works which he had been doing that necessitated the honour from the Council.

He called on him to always maintain the truth, honestly and be just in all his affair in relation to the human person.

The Member Representing Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia Federal Constituency, Hon. Dozie Nwankwo noted that Okigbo Mbem’s great believe in service to humanity, has shown in his love to his community, saying that such was the reason why he was conferred with the Prestigious Ozo title. He expressed optimism that Okigbo Mbem would maintain the status which Ozos were known for.

According to the Member Representing Anaocha 11 Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Ejike Okechukwu, Okigbo Mbem has greatly been honoured by the elders of his community by becoming a part of the decision making body in the community. He noted that Okigbo Mbem earned the honour sequel to the life style he had projected over the years.

Member Representing Njikoka 11 Constituency, Hon. Pita Ibida, explained that the Ozoship title was meant exclusively for individuals who had distinguished themselves over a period of time and maintained that Okigbo with his initiation into the council would become one of the responsible men who would raise up at all times as custodian of the custom and tradition of Community.

The Ozoship title of Okigbo Mbem attracted notable individuals within Anambra State and beyond such as the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uchenna Okafor; the Chairman of Anaocha LGA, Hon. Estate Onyegu; Immediate past Chairman of Anaocha LGA, Hon. Ikeobi Ejiofor among others.
