…As 10 Sisters Take First Profession Vow
By Vivian
It was all joy and solemnity, as many of God’s people gathered at Isuaniocha on Thursday, 4th April, 2024, for the Blessing and Opening of the new Novitiate and Formation House of Sisters of Jesus the Saviour and for the First Religious Profession of their ten sisters.
The event started with a Holy Mass presided over by the Catholic Bishop of Awka, Bishop Paulinus Ezeokafor, who, during his homily, thanked the newly professed sisters and their families for what he described as their great desire to serve the Church and humanity.
While exhorting them to keep to the public vows they made, the Bishop used the opportunity to thank God and all people of good will who assisted the sisters during the windstorm of March 25, 2024 that swept away their roof and collapsed their wall, even as he asked for more support.
The Moderator General and Mother Superior of the Sisters of Jesus the Saviour, Mother Resurrecta Maria Agu, who spoke with Fides, expressed joy and gratitude that that epoch-making event was a success. According to her the windstorm of March 25 was a big challenge to them, even as she said that more still needed to be done by people so that the new Novitiate house would be properly equipped to train authentic religious.
On their part, the newly professed sisters were filled with gratitude to God as they also thanked all those who had assisted them in answering the call of their beloved, Jesus the Saviour.
