NBA Awka Branch Organizes Testimonial Match for Outgoing Chairman

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Awka Branch, last Saturday organized a testimonial match for its outgoing chairman, Barr. Gab Moneke, KSJI (Gabmonk) for his outstanding performance as a chairman.

The match which took place at Awka was between NBA, Awka Branch and Judiciary Workers and had in attendance lawyers, Judiciary workers, family members and well wishers of the out-going Chairman of the Awka branch of the Nigerian Bar Association.

Addressing newsmen the outgoing Chairman, Sir Moneke, said that members of the Branch decided to honour him, based on their judgment of his performance and organized the testimonial match.

He noted that apart from the widely acknowledged Amanke Okafor Biennial Lecture, which he instituted and infrastructural development at the NBA Bar Centre in Awka, bringing unity and peace amongst all the lawyers in the branch were some of his achievements.

Those present at the testimonial match included Barr. Nnamdi Anagor, Past Sec, Awka branch, Barr. Elene Onubuogu, Barr. Ifeanyi Obiakor, Chairman emeritus, Rev. Fr. Clement Muozoba, His Worship Chuma Ibemesi, fmr. Secretary, His Worship Mike Anyadiegwu, Barr. Uba Anene, Chairman emeritus, Barr. Ekene Okonkwo, aspirant for the post of Chairman, Barr. Tony Anazor, aspirant for the post of Secretary, among others.

In an interview, the Vice-President of Radio Television Theatre and Art Workers Union of Nigeria, RATTAWU, South-East zone, Prince Emeka Kalu, said that Mr. Muoneke had made a solid foot print on the sands of time with the sterling leadership he brought at the NBA Awka branch, which, he said, had given the body a befiting office, which depicted the noble profession.

Some Lawyers who spoke at the event, included, Messrs Uche Egwu and Nnamdi Anagor, joined their voices in commending the out-going Chairman of the NBA Awka Branch for his humble leadership, saying that it has seen it attained heights, especially the conducive NBA Bar Centre, the Amanke Okafor Biennial Lecture and peaceful co-existence of the branch members, noting that the solid foundation he laid for the branch would not be forgotten in a hurry and wished him well in all his future endeavors.

The match ended goalless.
