The Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Wusasa, The Rt. Rev. Titus Alkali has congratulated mothers on the occasion of the 2025 Mothering Sunday Celebration, and also condemned the Uromi Killings.

This was contained in a Statement by Evang. Britto Samuel

Diocesan Communicator diocese of Wusasa diocese.

Bishop Alkali in his mothering Sunday message wrote, “happy mothering Sunday to all our beautiful, caring, amazing, loving mothers out there. Mothering Sunday is celebrated for us in the Anglican Church on the 4th Sunday in Lent. It is a global event that gives us a chance to honour mothers and recognize their valuable sacrifices for their families.

Of course, we know that mothers’ love knows no bounds and your selflessness is truly inspiring.

A mother dedicates her life to her children, her husband, supporting them every step of their life. We cannot fully reciprocate these sacrifices and love that you mothers continue to lavish on us. We love you and celebrate you on this special day.

Happy mothering Sunday once again to all of you and God bless you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.”

In his admonition he condemned the killing of travelling hunters in Uromi, Edo State and called on youths to shun all forms of violence, jungle justice and seek peace.

“In the same breath,

we empathize with families of the 16 hunters that were gruesomely killed in Edo state as they were traveling. It’s really very, very painful. We truly condemn such acts and plead with our youths to be calm and allow government agencies responsible to fish out the perpetrators of this heinous crime. We pray that God will sincerely comfort these very families and grant them the fortitude to bear this loss.”

Bishop Alkali also used this moment to congratulate the Muslim faithful on the occasion of this year’s Eid Al-Fitr which marks the end of Ramadan fasting.

He called on all Muslim faithfuls to celebrate with love and peace towards one another.

Mothering Sunday services held across different churches within the Diocese with men also singing renditions to honour their wives and mothers.
