…Says Church Focuses on Youth Apostolate against Neopaganism

The Chaplain, Catholic Men’s Organization, CMO, Rev Fr Jude Ubah, has advised intending couples to take marriage course seriously in order to understand and carry out the responsibility and obligations attached to marital union.
Rev Fr Ubah, who gave the advice in Awka recently, frowned at the increasing rate of divorce, describing it as a source of worry to the body of Christ, particularly the Catholic Church.
The cleric, who described marriage as a perpetual union which should be well prepared for, by those moving into it, said the Sacrament of Matrimony had a property of indissolubility and unity once tied together.
‘The Church frowns at anything that comes to put it asunder. The Church has a well-organized body of teachings, marriage catechesis, where she directs intending couples to go for instructions for three months minimum, six months, one year, so that they’ll be able to understand and carry out the obligations and responsibilities attached to marital life.
‘The teachings go a long way to ameliorating the issue of broken families and divorce here and there,’ Rev Fr Ubah said.
The cleric also bared mind on some other worrisome challenges such as neo-paganism, social media garbage, among others, affecting today’s youths, and the efforts of the Church to arrest the trends.
‘The Church is focusing on the youth; youth apostolate and evangelization, because many of our youths are going back to idol worshipping; what’s called neo-paganism, which is a real big challenge to the Church now.
‘Again, our youths are embracing with open arms, a lot of garbage on social media. So, these are the threats and headache the Church is having currently.
‘The Church is trying to approach them by a new and right methodology, which is to sit down and propose SWOT analysis, whereby we’ll be able to identify our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats,’ the cleric said.
