The Labour Party (LP) on Tuesday inaugurated its Anambra South Senatorial District Executives at the party’s secretariat in Nnewi.
LP Anambra South Senatorial District Coordinator, Hon. Nonso Amanchukwu, in his address, emphasized the party’s commitment to grassroots development and people-centered governance.
He urged Anambrians to identify with the party, promising that Labour Party would bring about positive change in the state.
He further thanked the National Deputy Vice Chairman of the party, Chief Clement Ojukwu, the State Chairman Hon. Ugochukwu Emeh and Hon Paul Obu, for finding him worthy to inaugurate them.
He therefore charged them to go to their wards and do their work by inaugurating party faithfuls at the grassroots.
He also called on them to provide them with the list of those that will contest for the councillors and Chairmen of different Local Governments as they warm up for the Local Government elections in the state.
“Out of the 118 wards, we’re hopeful that our party will win at least 5 LGAs out of the 7 and also win in 98 wards out of the 118 wards.”
There’s room for people to join the Labour Party in the state, I charge the inaugurated executive to do their work by wooing others to the party,” he said.
The newly inaugurated executive, are Nnewi North, Hon Emeka Okeke, Nnewi South LGA, Hon Chief Chiwelu Odinaka, Ekwusigo, Hon Levi Madu, Ihiala, Sir Justice Igbodika, they all pledged to work tirelessly to build a stronger Labour Party presence in the south senatorial district.
Due to insecurity members from Orumba North and South could not attend the event. They however, vowed to engage with communities, listen to their concerns, and champion their causes.
Honourable Ben Chuks in his speech, called on all Labour Party Faithful to stand firm and strong as the time for them to remain resolute in the struggle for good governance is now.
He however, expressed optimism about the party’s prospects in upcoming elections and called on the inguarated executive of Anambra South Senatorial District to work hard to ensure the party’s victory at the polls.
Barr Akilika, a stakeholder in Anambra Labour Party while speaking said, “Today marks a new beginning for LP in Anambra South. We call on all Anambrians to join us in our quest for a better future.Together, we can achieve greatness!”
