The Anambra State Police Command has summoned the Presidents General of Enugwu-Ukwu and Nawfia Communities following growing tensions in the areas over the gruesome murder of three youths on Monday, September 9.
The three people who are said to be from Enugwu-Ukwu Community, were allegedly lured by their neighbours from Nawfia and shot to death over a land disagreement.
While Enugwu-Ukwu Community accused Nawfia Community of being responsible for the killing, leaders of Nawfia Community dissociated themselves from it.
The Anambra State Police Command had in the wake of the killings promised to maintain neutrality to ensure that those responsible were brought to book.
The Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the Command had summoned the two Presidents General of the communities for discussions aimed at preventing a potential breakdown of law and order.
Sources from the two communities on Wednesday morning, September 11, said there was heightened apprehension and low business activity due to fears of attack which could escalate into a full-scale communal crisis.
