As part of marking the joy of the season, the Chief Shepherd of Awka Diocese, Most Rev PaulinusEzeokafor, December 19, held the 2019 Annual Bishop’s Christmas Celebration with the Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria, Awka Diocese (CLCNAD).
The joyous event, which was held at St Patrick’s Cathedral Podium, Awka, Anambra State, turned to be a love feast, as the bishop and his children (the Laity Council and the lay bodies under the laity) exchanged countless Christmas gifts.
Speaking on the occasion, the Auxiliary Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Jonas Benson Okoye, on behalf of the diocesan Bishop, Most Rev PaulinusEzeokafor, thanked the CLCNAD, the Catholic Women’s Organization (C.W.O.), the Catholic Men’s Organization (C.M.O.) and the Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON), of the diocese for their various Christmas gifts to the bishop and the episcopal household.
The bishop extolled the Laity Council led by the President, Hon Joseph Igwebuike, for what he described as the Council’s great support to the Church.
Bishop Okoye congratulated the CLCNAD on what he described as the richly packaged 2019 Annual Bishop’s Christmas which featured Bible quiz competition and drama presentation bordering on faith by the C.W.O. The bishop expressed his delight that a Catholic youth and a member of the Holy Childhood, emerged the overall best and 2nd position winner in the quiz completion, respectively, a development, he said, depicted hope for the Church.
