Kevin Onyema Empowers Local Farmers in Umuona at New Yam Festival

The former Aguata II State Constituency aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Hon Kevin Mmaduabuchi Onyema, Saturday, August 31, took part in the New Yam Festivities of his town, Umuona, at the Umuona Civic Centre, Aguata LGA of Anambra State, using the opportunity to donate some farming equipment to farmers, reports Jude Atupulazi.

Onyema was among a host of dignitaries who graced the event, among whom were the Aguata Local Government Transition Chairman, Hon. Eche Ezeibe, and Chief O.C.J. Ezechukwu. They Joined well-wishers, Nze na Ozo Umuona, and personalities from Umuona and beyond to celebrate the 2019 New Yam Festival with HRH, Igwe Humphrey Ejesieme.

It was a special welcome to Chinaemeze, as Onyema is known, as the Umuona Community, apparently delighted to have him in their midst, gave him a rousing reception on sighting him.
Chief Onyema used the occasion to distribute wheel barrows, cutlasses, hoes and other farming implements to all the local farmers in his home town who participated in the new yam exposition in Umuona.

While presenting the implements to the farmers, Onyema expressed happiness over the new yam harvest by the participants, as well as over their agricultural products. He challenged them to produce more Agro produces in large quantity in order to reduce the cost of agricultural products in the market.

Fides reports that Chief Onyema has also extended his philanthropy and empowerment programmes within his community by reaching out to community leaders across his town with a promise to partner with his friends and groups to assist in the development of his community.

While speaking to the press, a farmer, Mrs Appolonia Nwankwo, thanked God for giving them a man like Chief Onyema in Umuona, who, she said, had been a source of blessing to the entire community and beyond.

Another farmer, Mr Leonard Omereonyeogwu, thanked Onyema for his kind gesture to the local farmers in Umuona. He also prayed God to continue to bless their benefactor in his efforts to pay back to the community that made him.

The Traditional Ruler, Igwe Humphrey Ejesieme, Ezedioramma 2 of Umuona, described Chinaemeze as a man with a benevolent spirit who had contributed immensely to the development of Umuona through his support, both financially and otherwise. He prayed God to give Onyema long life in order to continue his good gestures.

Highlight of the event was the award of prizes to the best three farmers.
